Feast of Epiphany (Regarding Baptism)

Epiphany is a Christian holiday, or feast of the apparition. The Feast of epiphany commemorates the coming and bowing of shepherds and scholars at the birth of Jesus. But the Eastern Churches celebrate this day as the Feast of the Baptism of the Jesus Lord, which celebrates Jesus’ baptism in the Jordan River (baptism for the remission of sin).

The purpose of this article is to examine whether this practice (baptism for the remission of sin), which dates back to the 4th century, has anything to do with the baptism of Jesus Christ (January 2 – 8), now celebrated by the Catholic Church. Practices of worship and rituals must be examined in this age of knowledge and history.

Although basic biblical doctrine is found correctly in the Catholic Church, their clergy, and Bible.  However, there are many inconsistencies with their Bible, their customs and practices with those of many churches, for e.g. polytheism and idolatry.  Even those who are in the catholic church do not understand these customs.   Let me get back to my subject. Let us see if there is any connection between the baptism of Jesus Christ and the present baptism of others. We truly sympathize with the Christian scholars who twisted and interpreted the baptism of Jesus, knowing full well that the true God came to this earth in human form in the name of Jesus for the atonement of the sins of mankind. The Holy Bible says of Jesus, that “He was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.” (Heb: 4.15)   Why should someone without sin be baptized in the baptism of John the Baptist (baptism for the repentance of sin)? All three Gospels say that John’s sermon is to confess sins and be baptized for their forgiveness (remission of sin), Mt: 3 .13 -18: MK: 1: 10-12: Luk: 3: 7-10. What sin did Jesus have? Everyone knows that Jesus is the Redeemer. And so, Jesus had no need to be baptized for forgiveness.

The baptism of John (for the remission of sin) is different from the baptism in the name of the present in the Father Son and Holy Spirit (Faith baptism).  The baptism we presently obey is a command of Jesus Christ.  Mt: 28 .18 -20. So that they can teach Jesus’ words and make disciples of those who are ready to obey. Hence the advice is to baptize such people, which is in fact the doctrine. Paul says in Rom: 6.3. baptism is to join with Christ. Baptism is also to take part in the death of Jesus Christ.  It is significant to become the part of his death who became the supreme sacrifice in pain on the cross, who bears the sin of the whole world.

Being part-takers in His death means a lot. That is, a person who believes in Jesus is freed from sin, but then all the effects (Influences) of sin on him must be put to death.  Eliminating sinful tendencies is a sacrifice. Such a holy life can be reconciled with the crucifixion every day.  Colossians 2:12 expounds for us what baptism is.  “Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.” Repentance is referred to as the death of a sinful man. And then burial and resurrection is symbolized in baptism as going under the water and thereafter being raised out from the water. In short, baptism is the proclamation of the faith of a person about the death burial resurrection of Jesus Christ by witnessing in his body and soul.

Belief that one who believes in Christ will live even if he dies. John 11.25 says “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:”   This baptism is witnessed by the angels, the church of God, the heavens, the earth, and the water. So, it is in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, (God) as they know So, faith baptism is important in two ways.  One, it is a commandment of Jesus Christ and second, that it signifies faith in Jesus Christ.  In Mathew: 28: 18-20: verse telling clearly and strictly about the baptism  The only way to become a disciple of Jesus Christ is to obey the commandment by the immersion baptism in the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
The only reason to be baptized is to testify of his/her faith in Jesus Christ.  That Jesus Christ incarnated on earth and was crucified through torture and suffering, though he committed no sin. Baptism is based on the belief that one is buried in the grave, has conquered death and hell (Sheol), is resurrected, and lives forever. And will come back to Himself   to receive his people (Parousia)   There is no basis for any other baptism in any other verse in the bible. Mark: 16. 16 says, “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; He who does not believe will be condemned. ”    The bible says that those who dies after the faith baptism  will resurrect and the remaining will be transformed, and both will be captured to the sky in the coming of Jesus Christ (Parousia), and we believe it. 1 Thess: 4. 16. 17; & 1 Cor: 15: 51 – 53: “Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.” This is where the importance of faith in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit comes into play.   There are many different baptisms. Even before Jesus. Many religions and organizations now practice baptism in various ways. None of this has any basis in the Holy Bible. These religions have many traditional rules to speak of.

Paul speaks of baptism for the dead in 1 Corinthians 15:29. Even today, Hindu believers can be seen to dive (A type of baptism) in the river Ganga and other sacred rivers, all of which are different rituals.

But there is a baptism instituted (Commissioned) by Jesus Christ, and it must be understood per theology in the Holy Bible.   Man hears the word (about Christ), believes, and is baptized. But faith brings forgiveness of sins. Romer 5: 1. For we are justified by faith and have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: The justification of faith can be clearly understood by reading Romans chapter 3. It is thereafter that one can join with Christ. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. (Galatians 3:27)   But the baptism given by John the Baptist was the baptism for the remission of sins. But the theology of faith baptism (faith in Jesus Christ) was not instituted at that time. John the Baptist was under the law of Moses. Those who heard John preach were baptized under his hand in Jordan, confessing their sins.  This was the age of Moses’ dogma. Jesus comes to John to be baptized in the final stages of John’s ministry.  Jesus’ goal was to reveal Himself to John, who was waiting for a Messiah.
That was God’s word to John. John 1:33: “But I knew him not, but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending and abiding in him, the same is he that baptize with the Holy Ghost.”   Many other bible verses make this clear. The baptism of Jesus was a sign given by God to John to recognize Jesus without a doubt. The Holy Spirit did not descend on anyone else in the form of a dove.  Remember that John sees the dove descending upon Jesus alone. The baptism of Jesus by John was also a confirmation of the ministry of John, who was sent by God to pave the way for the ministry of Jesus Christ. This baptism has no other significance than that.

Many have heard it said that baptism is now an example (model) of Jesus’ baptism. That is the model we want. If Jesus is baptized, so should we do it too? There is no such doctrine in the Bible. If someone says that I was baptized because Jesus was baptized, he is making Jesus an ordinary man and denying the divinity of Jesus. It means that Jesus also needed forgiveness.

Baptism and the Lord’s Supper are the two physical ministry services that Jesus Christ gave to the church after Jesus’ resurrection.    Baptism is a one-time event and the Lord’s Supper (Holy Communion) to be practiced regularly when the Saints (Church) come together. From the apostolic times (first and second centuries) very different customs and practices permeated the Holy Church.  (Creeping) up. Today it has reached its peak. The church is not given any ritual, nothing like Christmas.
Holiness of life, high values of individuality, good family and community are our rituals, and our fellowship are our festivals. Christ’s sermon on the mount is our law to follow and there is nothing beyond it. No traditional rituals, ceremonies, festivals, special ceremonies, vows, sights, pilgrimages, or shrines are not biblical. The Jew has some things in the Old Testament, but Jesus Christ removed all of them and established the new law based on justification through faith. This God is the treasure of love that comes down to the one who dwells in faith without any restriction to place or time. I pray and May God bless and enlighten all who read this.
